Steamboat Art Museum Announces 50-Year Photography Retrospective Exhibit
The Steamboat Art Museum is pleased to announce a 50-Year Photography Retrospective by long-time local photographer Rod Hanna will be at the Helen Rehder Gallery in the Museum starting June 1, 2012. The exhibit will be open through October 14, 2012.
Hanna moved to Steamboat Springs from Kansas City in 1975 after thirteen years as an award winning photojournalist and sports photography specialist. He then began a 25-year career marketing the Steamboat Ski Resort---announcing his retirement in 2000. During that time, Rod continued to be an active photographer, including 10 years as official photographer for the Denver Broncos. His subject interests eventually grew towards travel and fine art photography. His photographs have appeared in a number of books by the National Football League and in a variety of national publications, including People, National Geographic, Sports Illustrated, Time, Newsweek, and Travel & Leisure.
In November 2007 Hanna published his first book of his landscape photographs, “Seasons of Light, Impressions of Steamboat Springs and the Yampa Valley,” and in 2010 his second book, “Seasons of Gold,” portraying autumn on Colorado’s Western Slope. In 1984, he started and directed a workshop in Steamboat Springs called “Photography at the Summit” that ran for eight years and now is located in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The past two years, he conducted a workshop on self-publishing as part of the Moab Photo Symposium. Hanna is currently represented by Wild Horse Gallery in Steamboat Springs for his landscape photography and US Presswire for his legacy NFL photographs. His work can also be seen at www.rodhanna.com
