Showcasing the beauty of the Yampa Valley, the art that is created during this extraordinary week spotlights historic landmarks, ranches, the community of Steamboat Springs and our growing arts and cultural offerings. SAM’s Plein Air Event brings local artists together with artists from around the country, and the community and our visitors together with the artists as they paint on location – This event is uniquely Steamboat!

  • Experience friendly atmosphere of Steamboat, the easy access to historical ranches, wild rivers, and the breathtaking landscape and community. Painting inspiration from fabulous scenes abounds!
     

  • It’s for the first-time and the seasoned art buyers.  Build your collection with paintings reflecting our unique community, at affordable price points. Featuring works by local favorites and visiting artists.
     

  • Meet the artists throughout the week, get familiar with their individual painting styles and what inspires them. Make some new friends!
     

  • Get to know Joshua Been, renowned Colorado painter and SAM’s 2020 Plein Air judge. A selection of Joshua's paintings will be featured at SAM for the duration of the exhibit.

Saturday, Sept 19, Quick Draw at the Farmers Market

  • 10:00 – 12:00  Artists complete a painting

  • 12:30 – 2:00  Painting sales on Yampa St. from 7th – 8th Streets

Friday, Sept 25, Opening exhibition sale at Steamboat Art Museum

  • 6:00 – 8:00    Occupancy limited to 36 people, masks required. 

Tuesday, Sept 29,  Demonstration and Lecture with Joshua Been  $50
