Friday, Sept 20 – Artist Check-In at SAM ~ 807 Lincoln Ave and OPEN Paint Day

8 am – 5 pm:

  • Artists check-in and get your canvases/paper for the week stamped.

    • Artist Info Packets distributed (Please read ALL materials!)

    • SWAG Bags distributed

 

Saturday, Sept 21 – QUICK DRAW at the Steamboat Farmer’s Market ~ 7th and Yampa Streets.

  • 8 am: Farmer’s Market opens, Volunteers and Staff arrive

  • 9 am: Artists arrive and check in at SAM table for exclusive Quick Draw canvas/paper stamp and find location to paint.

  • 10 am: Bell rings and artists being painting

  • 12 pm: Artists stop painting and begin framing. Artists responsible for frames and framing materials. (Don’t forget your wire!)

  • 12:30 – 1:30 pm: Artists complete framing, artwork available for sale to the public in designated SAM area at the Farmer’s Market.

  • 2 pm - Welcome Reception for Artists and Quick Draw Patrons ~ at SAM, 807 Lincoln

 

Sunday, Sept. 22 – OPEN Paint Day

Monday, Sept. 23 – Paint at designated location TBD, (optional)

  • Meet at SAM at 8 am or choose your own location.

 

Tuesday, Sept. 24 – Paint at Zabel Ranch, (optional)

  • Meet at SAM at 8 am or choose your own location

  • Artists’ Happy Hour, Steamboat restaurant TBD

Wednesday, Sept. 25 – Paint at Alpine Mountain Ranch, (optional) at Alpine Mountain Ranch (address TBA)

5:00 - 7:00 pm - SUNSET RECEPTION with Plein Air Artists and Patrons

  • Paint, enjoy wine and apps, meet the patrons and display your work from the day of painting at Alpine Mountain Ranch

  • Artists attend for free, Artist family members-$20, Patrons-$40

Thursday, Sept. 26 - Main Street Steamboat Day–Paint Downtown Steamboat, (optional)

Main Street Award of Excellence:  The painting that best illustrates the unique character of Downtown Steamboat. The area considered to be "Main Street” is from 3rd to 13th streets, Oak to Yampa Street.

  • 3 – 5 pm – Painting Drop Off at SAM

  • 5 – 7 pmLecture: An evening with Dave Santillanes at SAM. Join Dave as he discusses the adventures and inspirations of his career as an artist.​​

    • ​Free to Artists and Art Benefactor Members ($250 & Above) 

    • $10 suggested donation for all other attendees

  • 7 – 8 pm – Painting Drop Off at SAM

Friday, Sept. 27 – Painting Drop Off, Installation & Opening Reception

  • · 8 am – 11 am - PAINTING DROP OFF (No Late Exceptions!)

    • Artists last day to return artwork, choose up to 4 pieces for exhibition, maximum unframed dimensions 24” x 30”.

    •  Artists fill out consignment forms & string tags

    • Paintings must be framed, wired and ready for hanging prior to drop-off!

  • 11 am - 3:00 pm – Museum staff and volunteers hang the exhibition

    • Exhibit Installation and tag printing

    • Opening reception set-up

  • 3:00 - 4:00 pm – Dave Santillanes and Awards of Excellence Judging

  • 5:00 - 6:00 pm - Private Preview Reception for Purchase Guarantors only. Use link below:
    (Purchase Guarantee = $250 pre-paid commitment for purchase.)

  • 6:00 - 8:00 pmPublic Opening Reception and Awards at SAM

    • All artists should be present for the opening reception and awards ceremony

  • 7:00 pm – Awards

September 27th - November 2nd 2019: SAM Plein Air Exhibition open to the public. 

 

Saturday, Nov. 2 – Final Day of Exhibition, Unsold Painting Pick-Up

  • 11am - 6pm: Artists pick-up unsold art at SAM

    • SAM will be closed from 11/03 to 12/07/2018! Make arrangements early and accordingly!

September 28th - 30th: “Capturing the Atmosphere” -Workshop with Dave Santillanes
All level Plein Air and studio workshop focusing on designing a studio painting from Plein Air studies.
